Delirium Tremens is a Belgian Strong Ale. It is considered one of the best craft beers in the world. It was created in 1988 on behalf of an Italian customer of Brouwerij Huyghe and was so successful that the Belgian brewery decided to add it to its catalogue. It is brewed with three different yeast strains and Styrian Golding and Saaz hops. Its ceramic bottle and the pink elephant on its label are known the world over. This Belgian Pale Ale has a slightly cloudy appearance and a pale golden colour with a fine, persistent head. It has an alcoholic aroma, with light notes of malt, spice and fruit. The taste is warm and robust with a hint of malt and yeast. Intense and long finish. Alcohol content: 8.5 proof.
Brouwerij Huyghe
The history of Brouwerij Huyghe begins when Leon Huyghe starts working in 1902 in a local brewery in Appelhoek. In addition to his passion for the art of brewing, he was married to Delfina Van Doorselaer, the daughter of a brewer. In 1938 the name of the brewery was changed to the one we know today. In addition to Delirum, Huyghe produces other brands of beer such as La Guillotine, Mongozo, Averbode, Floris, etc.
