Brasserie Rochefort
They are brewed by Brasserie Rochefort, a Trappist brewery located in the abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy, founded in 1230 near the town of Rochefort. Brasserie Rochefort has been brewing beer since 1595. During the French Revolution the region was occupied by French troops and the abbey was looted by its inhabitants.
In 1899 the brewery was rebuilt, but was occupied again during the First World War. After the Second World War, the Trappist monks of Chimay helped the monks of Rochefort to improve the quality of their beers, resulting in the beers we know today.
