Tripel Karmeliet is a Belgian Tripel-style lager brewed with three different types of cereals: wheat, oats and barley. The idea of brewing a beer combining three cereals came about in the late 1990s, following the success of multigrain breads at the time. The recipe was inspired by a 1680s recipe originating from a Carmelite convent in Dendermode.<\/p>\n
This beer has a golden colour with a rich, creamy head and displays aromas of toasted caramel, malt and flowers. The palate is smooth and very balanced, with a hint of wheat and malt. Bitter finish. 8.4% alcohol.

Brouwerij Bosteels was founded in 1791 by Jean-Baptist Bosteels and is still a family business today. The history of the Bosteels family has been linked to politics, as three Bosteels have held the office of mayor. In 1930, Antoine Bosteels, the fifth generation, started exporting his beer to Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels. Years later, his son Ivo revived the iconic Kwak beer.
